<<Return to My Diary
31 - Up around 6am when I became aware that Bella was heading downstairs. Raced to let her out, 'just in case'. Returned to bed and succeeded in getting back to sleep until around 9am. Bella was still in the living room when I got up, and had peed on the carpet just a little where she was laying! :o( 20C in, 16C out. Sunny but blowing quite a strong Northerlyish wind. . . walked Bgdns real late feeling headachey and blah - with Bella doing much stopping to pee all along the way again!? . eventually carried on down to the unpleasantly busy harbour to sit under the old fish market roof for my coffee, and to tempt Bella with some of her food. She only had a mouthful or two again. .some old guy holidaymaker was sat nearby eating chips. He'd had enough and walked over to the harbours edge beneath the roof to throw the rest out for the seagulls. As he did so, some old 'local' nutter started shouting at him telling him not to feed them - that there were signs all over the place saying not to - that they were 'flying rats' and people had to live here with them all year and they would attack people etc, etc. He was aggressive AND abusive - and even had people looking out of nearby windows to see what the shouting was about!! What he said may well have arguably all been true, but there was no need to be SO unpleasant to a visitor about it like he was!??? Created a very unpleasant atmosphere around the place for a while. I must confess, I even went and said 'sorry about that' to the old chip eater a short while later. . . shopped for a rucsack of potatoes and a few supplies on the way home through town early afternoon. A passing volunteer from the lifeboat shop who I'd spoken with when the helicopter was landing the other day, confirmed that the old guy on the yacht HAD indeed died (as I'd pretty much gathered by now). . ate a bag of crisps, a banana and a few chocolate biscuits before retreating back to bed. . slept until around 4pm, only to wake with the same headache and crappy feeling. Bella had wet herself all in her bed again!!! :o( Straight out into the garden to try to towel her dry a bit - while feeling awful and sucking an annadin tablet. .eventually put her bed of multiple duvets out into the garden to simply dry off a bit. Of course the waterproof cover inside is all in pieces these days, so the duvets are all undoubtedly saturated righ through. Immpossible to do much about all that other than just try to dry it and air it a bit. Gonna end up being pretty stinky! Ohhhhh dear. :o( . . .PCd just a bit of this . . . TVd . . . ate bowls of creamy co-co pops followed later by some buttery mushrooms with grated cheese and crisps and finally some chocolate . . . to bed whenever.
30 - Up around 7am. 19C in, 16C out. Sunny. . .messed around on the PC posting well over a hundred heritage sailing boat pictures to Facebook for ages. Post 1, Post 2, Post 3, Post 4 . . walked BGdns real late in the very warm sun. Bella was peeing every hundred yards or so ALL the way!!!??? . . eventually carried on down to the harbour and started heading for the breakwater, but the mass of dawdling crowds all along the marina walkway ended up being all too much for me to handle. Detoured up from the heaving harbourside and followed the higher road along to the seat above the end of the breakwater. Marquees and big crowds on the breakwater beach and near end of the breakwater for the Brixfest 'childrens day' events. . reached the seat just as the all weather lifeboat was starting to head out across the bay on a shout. CRTs had also been tasked - to a vessel on fire in Torquay harbour. The alleged 'fire' was all safely out and done with before the lifeboat even got across the bay - but they still carried on over just to be on the safe side. Just as well, because in a pretty short space of time they were tasked to attend a broken down speedboat, just along the coast towards Paignton. It was quickly towed safely into Torquay. Just sat around up there in the welcome shade for quite a while, watching distant developments, etc. . Eventually quit the seat and started to head back. Paused nearby to rest my camcorder on the wall, and grab a shot or two of the lifeboat as it returned to station down below. The lifeboat was pretty much back on it's mooring soon after midday - with a Brixfest 'jet-ski demo' due to be held just off the Breakwater beach at 12:30pm. Ended up hanging around there for just a short while to catch a bit of the spectacle. It WAS actually quite impressive, and I couldn't resist having a brief prod at capturing some of it with the camcorder. There were two guys doing the 'demo', but one was clearly better at it than the other, so I just stuck with him and succeeded in zooming-in and recording some of his backflips, etc. . .headed back along the road to the awful crowds of the inner harbour, and then straight home through town . . . PCd and eventually uploaded a post to Facebook of a few snips of the jet-ski demo. . . ate stew and four pieces of bread and butter . . napped . . . TVd/PCd/guitarred . . . ate two ham finger rolls with crisps followed by chocolate biscuits and chocolate . . gave Bella all the remaining stew which she ate 'a bit' of at least . . . TVd/PCd until to bed around 3am.
29 - Woke earlier a couple of times, managed to snooze on then up around 9am! 19C in, 16C out. Sunny . . .walked Bgdns and then on out to the park just past the breakwater to sit and watch all the heritage sailboats in the bay. Comms on the scanner suggesting a kayaker had died somewhere (relatively distant) and been taken away by the helicopter! Not a good start to the day for someone! Grabbed just a couple of photos of the 'dragonboat racing' near the lifeboat station. . too many people around the harbour for comfort so headed back to BGdns to sit and watch the sailing boats some more. Impossible to resist taking a bunch of photos.
comms on the scanner about a 70 year old with a head injury on a yacht!! . . . . . . requesting the lifeboat defibulator!! . . . the medivac helicopter landed somewhere!! Set off to have a look for it.
headed straight home overheating badly in the hot sun . . .PCd . . .

28 - Up around 7am. 18C in, 11C out. Misty. . .walked BGdns. Disappointingly no visibility out across the bay at all for the first day of the Herifest heritage sailing weekend etc. . carried on down to the inner harbour but couldn't stand the noise of the music being blasted out from speakers connected to the main stage so carried on out to sit on the breakwater near the lifeboat station for a while in the mist. . eventually back to near the old coastguard station for my coffee, back to BGdns and ultimately home . . . Mum called in . . . ate a pastie, pork pie and large bag of crisps . . . napped until around 7pm. Woke feeling a little nauseas and 'confused' again for a while. :o(. . . TVd . . . ate a whole bag of mum donated doughnuts . . . sat on the front garden step for quite a while watching and listening to the distant Brixfest fireworks from around 10:10pm onwards. Quite a 'significant' display! . . . TVd/PCd until finally to bed well gone 2am.
27 - Up around 8am. 17C in, 13C out. Grey. . .walked BGdns, the harbour for my coffee, back to bgdns and home via the store. . . PCd photos . . . napped. Woke feeling VERY down! . . TVd . . started the car up just to make sure it still does, and sat in it for quite a while just giving the engine a run - and admittedly eyes closed imagining doing it to end things. Warm in the sun, and strangely 'calmed' by the prospect. Not unpleasant. . . drank the last half a glass of the red wine. . . ate bowls of co co pops, a pastie, crisps, biscuits, banana and chocolate . . . to bed whenever. Bella ate nearly nothing again today.
26 - Woke earlier, snoozed on for a bit then up around 7:40am feeling headachey and awful again. 16C in, 10C out. Grey. . .walked. Took photos . . . PCd and posted to Facebook . . . napped . . . TVd . . .drank a glass of red wine and ate two chicken kievs with chips followed later by biscuits, crisps, a large sausage roll and a little chocolate . . . 25 - Woke earlier, poorly snoozed on for a bit then up around 8:20am feeling tired out and awful. 17C in, 10C out. Grey. . .walked BGdns, and then on out to the park past the breakwater in the cold easterly breeze. No ferries running to day and nothing much moving out in the bay. . eventually headed back towards the inner harbour.
Bobs wheel was turning for the first time that I have seen.

22 - Up around 7:45am. 17C in, 12C out. Damp but sunny spells. . .walked BGdns. Eventually carried on down around the harbour and out to the small park just past the breakwater and sat around there for ages, taking the odd photo or two of any passing fishing boats.
Big rain and hail. Back to under the old fish market roof for my coffee and to wait for the continuing showers to pass. Eventually started to head back up towatds BGdns.
PCd and eventually posted a
short video of the dolphin and a bunch of fishing boat

. to bed by 11pm!
21 - Up around 7:30am. 17C in, 11C out. Rain. . .walked BGdns. It would appear that presumably volunteers from the heritage museum had been down yesterday and painted over all the graffitti in the lower searchlight gun emplacement. Unbelievably, almost literally before the paint had even dried, some idiot had graffittied it AGAIN!
carried on down to the harbour and sat under the old fish market roof for ages waiting for the tide to go out. Eventually walked out to the end of the quay and had a couple of damn good looks for the wheelchair I'd seen/photographed yesterday. Couldn't find any trace of it so I guess 'someone' has removed it. . .
. . . PCd and sent photos
to the BGdns museum volunteers via facebook as usual. . . Mum
called in with the papers and food donations . . . ate crisps, a
pork pie, a pastie and a banana . . . slept the rest of the
afternoon off . . . TVd the evening off . . . ate chocolate
biscuits and bowls of creamy co-co pops . . . to bed around
20 - Woke earlier, snoozed on then up around 7:45am. 18C in, 14C out. Sunny spells. . . walked BGdns and then on down to the harbour to sit under the old fish market roof for my coffee and Bella's bit of 'breakfast'. . ended up taking lots of photos when I noticed one of the fishing boats had net all tangled round its prop and a guy in a small boat was trying to clear it all
. . . PCd lots of photos
and eventually uploaded a couple of posts to the Brixham Fishing
facebook page before laying down for a much needed nap until near
7pm . . . TVd . . . ate the last of the stew with bread and
butter and a bag of crisps followed later by a banana and bowls
of co-co pops . . . back to bed by around 11pm.
19 - Dreadful night of poor broken sleep then up around 7:45am. 18C in, 14C out. Mostly sunny. Bella left the bedroom at some point last night and spent the night in the living room - after being sick all around the place. Hosed down a couple of the kitchen carpet tiles out in the garden, and sponged and cleaned a bit of the living-room carpet as best I could aftre getting up . . .walked BGdns, out to the small park past the breakwater, back to the harbour for my coffee and eventually home through town again. Took a bunch of photos of boats in the bay all along the way for a facebook post or two later . . . PCd . . . napped . . TVd . . . ate a bowl of stew, bag of crisps, and four pieces of bread and butter followed by many biscuits and some chocolate . . . to bed before midnight only to have trouble getting to sleep.
18 - Woke earlier, snoozed on then up around 7:30am. 18C in, 14C out. Sunny spells after rain. . . walked Bgdns. Sheltered from a bit of rain in the usual gun emplacement, taking a few photos of a couple of passing boats. Eventually on down to the harbour taking lots more photos. One of the beam trawlers was having its rudder re-attached after some maintenance work. Ended up being quite a struggle for the two workmen doing it, and drew quite a bit of a crowd watching. Sat on a bench near the old coastguard station for my coffee until a rain shower rolled in. Straight home through town in the light rain. . . PCd . . . napped . . . TVd . . . ate a bowl of stew with four piecs of bread and butter followed by co co pops, banana and biscuits . . . to bed around midnight.
17 - Woke earlier, snoozed on then up around 8:30am! 18C in, 12C out. Cloudy . . . walked bgdns and eventually on down to sit under the old fish market roof for my coffee feeling very tired and down. Briefly shopped on the way straight home through town. Caught out without a coat by a light rain all the way home. . .ate a small steak and kidney pie with crisps, a banana and then some biscuits. . retreated straight back to bed and somehow slept the rest of the day away until around 6pm! . . . did the mountain of dish washing chores and then cooked up a pressure cooker full of mince and mixed veg 'stew' while drinking a glass of red wine . . ate a bowl of stew with four pieces of bread and butter . . .back in bed by 11pm!
16 - Woke earlier, snoozed for as long as I could then up around 7:45am. 18C in, 14C out. Mostly sunny . . . walked BGdns, sat around for quite a while, drank my coffee and then straight home via the store . . . worked in the gardens cutting both lawns, trimming back next doors hedge out front and bits and pieces out back etc. Eventually stopped without doing as much as I'd hoped because I just felt SO exhausted. . . ate a meat pastry slice, large sausage roll and a bag of crisps . . . napped . . . deliberately missed taking this evening's fluoxetine tablet, just to bring the numbers of tablets back into line after having missed one once before, and make it easier to keep track of whether or not I've taken them when due . . . TVd/guitarred . . . ate half a battenburg cake and bowls of creamy co-co pops . . . to bed around midnight.
15 - Broken sleep then up around 7:15am. 18C in, 10C out. Blue sky sunny . . . walked BGdns and then on out to the small park just past the breakwater for quite a while. Back to the inner harbour for more sitting around and for my coffee. . shopped for the shampoo supplies Mum had asked me to get for her and then headed straight back through town. Briefly called into a pub I pass along the way and asked if I could have the five foot long bit of aluminium aerial mast that was in a skip
dropped off the pole in the
front garden and carried straight on up Mums to deliver the
shampoo and have a coffee and chat for a while . . . PCd . . .
napped . . . TVd . . ate two ham, cheese and mayo finger rolls
with a large bag of crisps followed by half a battenburg cake,
biscuits and chocolate . . to bed around 12:30am.
14 - Woke around 6am, snoozed for a bit then up around 7am. 18C in, 10C out. Hazey sun . . . walked BGdns, the park just past the breakwater and back to the harbour to sit and drink my coffee near the old coastguard station. Drew out some money and bought a few supplies in town on the way home. . . Mum called in with the papers and food donations for chats etc. . .ate a chicken and mushroom pastry slice with crisps and a banana . . . napped until woken before 7pm by the house filling with fumes from next door's barbeque coming through my open bathroom window. :o( . . . TVd/guitarred . . . ate a whole large pack of going cheap/out of date oven cooked chicken pieces with just salt and water followed by half a pack of chocolate biscuits and a little chocolate . . . to bed around 2am.
13 - Up around 6:15am feeling VERY not good! Nauseas, 'confused' and headachey - again! :o( 17C in, 13C out. Misty sun. . . walked BGdns. A passing dog walker remarked about a big crane over by the lifeboat station. It would appear that the lifeboat pontoon is finally having its gangway put back in place after its second painting. Ended up heading down around the harbour and all the way out to sit on the near end of the breakwater watching a bit of the crane work. Sadly by the time I'd gotten out there, the gangway had already been craned into position and I'd missed the spectacle of it being done. Sat around for quite a long while and took a bunch of photos nonetheless. . eventually back to sit under the old fish market roof for my coffee. Eventually back up to Bgdns. Notices on all the memorial seats from the council.
. . .PCd photos and did a
couple of posts to various Facebook pages. . . lay down for a
while but only kinda snoozed rather than slept! :o( . . . TVd . .
drank half a glass of red wine. Ate a pepperoni pizza with extra
chopped ham and grated cheese followed by a banana and a few
biscuits . . . back to bed by 10:30pm!!!
12 - Up around 7:15am. 17C in, 13C out. Rainy and misty again. . . walked BGdns and sheltered from the light rain in the gun emplacement for a while. Cleared up a carrier bag full of litter from around the place and then carried on down to sit under shelter of the old fish market roof for my coffee for quite a long while as the rain continued. Had to make much polite conversation to sheltering elderly coach visitors who wanted to fuss over Bella. Eventually escaped and straight home through town. . . PCd pretty much the rest of the day away trying to edit down and salvage something of the video I'd shot back on 6th of fishing boat Angelena landing her catch on the fish dock. Actually witnessing the fisherman clearing his net and the upsetting scene of the fish still being alive was something new for me, so I figured it was worth trying to make something of it. A long hard edit, but managed to cobble together something 'watchable' in the end, from the poor bits of video I'd got. . . eventually set the 'Angelena Landing' file uploading to Youtube and lay down for a while. Couldn't really sleep and was back up around 6:30pm. PCd . . . TVd . . . drank a glass of red wine. . . ate two bags of crisps, a large sausage roll, a cheese mayo and ham finger roll, a banana and a square of chocolate. . . OMG! All of a sudden a bit of an upset stomach caught me out!!!???? . . . to bed around 11pm.
11 - Woke earlier, tried not to be for a while and then up around 6:45am. 17C in, 13C out. Damp and misty again. . . walked BGdns.
More graffiti :o(
on down to the harbour and
sat near the old coastguard station for a long while to drink my
coffee and take a few photos etc. .eventually back up to BGdns
and home via the store, absolutely soaked with sweat and
sweltering in my raincoat and the humidity. . . . PCd . . ate a
large sausage roll, a large pack of crisps and a corned beef,
cheese and mayo finger roll . . . napped until almost 7pm and
woke feeling very nauseas again . . . TVd the day off . .
eventually felt less sick and forced down four sausages and a tin
of sausages in baked beans . . .to bed around midnight.
10 - Up around 7:30am, headachey and feeling a bit sick again. 17C in, 13C out. Damp and foggy to start! . . . walked Bgdns and sheltered in the usual lower gun emplacement from the rain before eventually heading down to sit under the old fish market roof for my coffee. Jeeze I feel rough again! :o(
. . . PCd a bit of this.
I'm SO far behind with it all, it really is starting to look like
a lost cause isn't it! :o( . I need to
be asleep again already!?! . . . napped until somewhere after
6pm. Very down. . . TVd . . washed down my evening fluoxetine
tablet with a glass of red wine and later the remaining small
amount of Baileys . . ate just a handful of biscuits and then
back to bed by 10:30pm!!!!!!
9 - Poor broken sleep then up around 7:15am, headachey and feeling a bit sick. 17C in, 12C out. Bits of light rain . .lolol that's funny. Someone caught and posted a pic of me and Bella down on the harbour floor whilst I was running around taking all manner of fishing boat photos yesterday. (Facebook post link) lolol .walked Bgdns and then down to the harbour for my coffee. Straight home through town . . . PCd the rest of the day away getting the Alexa Allen busker videos edited and uploaded. Hours of work and processing! . . . drank a glass of red wine while cooking and ate four sausages, an egg and chips during some processing down time. . . set the PC uploading to Youtube for hours and napped until almost 7pm . . PCd just a bit more once the three files had finally finished uploading. Song 1, Song 2, Song 3 - the latter I think being my favourite of the three I managed to capture. . . TVd . . ate bowls of creamy co-co pops. . . to bed around 1am.
8 - Woke earlier, snoozed on then up around 8:15am. 17C in, 15C out. Mostly sunny . . .walked bgdns and then on down to the harbour, taking boat pics all along the way.
ferry injuries !!! Passengers thrown around and injured by the rolling swell and or a freak wave, according to a couple who were on it who ended up stood near me whilst I was taking photos of whatever it was that was going on. .(My Facebook Post Link) .
motorbikes (My Facebook Post Link)
. . . sat in my usual place under the end of the old fish market roof for quite a while, waiting for any more 'classic' motorbikes that may have been intending to turn up (none did) and listening to a lady busker who was playing at the other end. The acoustics of that roof are amazing, and even though I was at the other end and she was facing out, it was quite possible to listen-in to her performance. It was actually quite quiet around the place, people wise, and despite really not feeling up to the stress and resultant likely PC work of doing so, I eventually ended up wandering down to nearer where she was playing and having a bit of a half-hearted go at filming her. Don't ask me how it's even possible, but somehow during the 'morning walk' I'd ended up taking in excess of 600 photos!!!! That meant I was very nearly out of charge on my only camcorder battery. Nevertheless, before the camera turned itself off (very 'stressfull' filming in the knowledge it would at any moment!), I managed to capture the best part of three songs thank goodness. Oh my god I am so SO envious of people who have the nerve and can play and sing and do SO much all at once like that. Miraculous! . . once the camcorder had given up the ghost I was able to relax and just enjoy her performance for a while. I ended up sat on the ground next to Bella, leaning against one of the harbourside seats in the warm hazy sun. I could SO easily have fallen asleep right there - except I ended up having to engage in polite conversation with one of the nearby bike owners I'd exchanged a few words with earlier!
back to BGdns and
eventually home via the store at getting on for 5pm! . . . PCd
pictures for hours until getting on for midnight . . . ate a
cheese, mayo and corned beef bread roll with two bags of crisps .
. . to bed before 1am.
7 - Woke earlier, snoozed on then up around 7:30am. 17C in, 12C out. Misty grey and damp after rain . . . walked BGdns, the harbour for my coffee, back to bgdns and eventually home. . . Mum called in with the papers and food donations . . . ate a small pork pie, crisps and a couple of miniature doughnuts . . . napped . . showers of rain. TVd . . .ate bowls of creamy co-co pops, the remaining three mini doughnuts, a banana and a couple of sausages in a buttered finger roll followed by a square or two of chocolate . . . to bed around1am.
6 - Up around 7am with the neighbour's piano music. 17C in, 10C out. Bright but cloudy . . . walked BGdns and on down to the harbour taking 'Brixham Fishing' type photos all along the way of all sorts of work going on with various boats . . eventually home through town. . . PCd pictures and posted to Facebook. . comms on the scanner suggested a trawler was in trouble with the loss of its main drive and was in need of assistance from a passing fellow trawler. Ended up going back to BGdns with Bella late afternoon in the hope of catching some snaps of them coming back in. Got my snaps and then followed them down into the habour
back up to BGdns and then eventually home . . . PCd pics etc . . . TVd and drank a little wine . . .ate ham, grated cheese and mayo sandwiches with crisps, a banana and around half a pack of chocolate biscuits . . .soon to bed around midnight.
5 - Up around 7:30am. 16C in, 10C out. Sunny . . .walked BGdns and then on down to the harbour, taking a bunch of fishing boat type pictures along the way. One of the fishing boats was alongside in front of the Rockfish restaurant at low tide having some sort of survey of its hull thickness done.

4 - Woke earlier, snoozed on then up around 7:45am. 15C in, 9C out. Mostly sunny . . . walked BGdns and then carried on out to sit on the edge of the breakwater overlooking the beach in the warm sun for quite a while. Eventually back to the harbour and ended up sitting at the water's edge on the new timbers that had recently been put down IN the harbour
back to Bgdns and
eventually home via the store for a few supplies . . . PCd . . .
napped . . . TVd . . . ate a pepperoni pizza, biscuits, banana

found safe and well and the search called off. . . to bed around
3 - Poor broken sleep then up around 7am. 15C in, 8C out. Hazey sun. . . . walked BGdns, around the harbour to the breakwater, the mile out to the end of the breakwater and back and then back to the harbour to sit and drink my coffee feeling increasingly warm. Eventually home through town . . . cooked and ate a whole pack of out-of-date/cheap bacon, three fried eggs and chips . . . napped . . . walked straight down through town and out to the small park just past the breakwater to sit and whatch the sunset. Back to the harbour to sit near the old coastguard station for quite a while before eventually back home through town again . . .TVd . . . ate bowls of creamy co-co pops . . to bed around 2am.
2 - Up around 6:40am. 15C in, 9C out. Grey. Very headachey. . . walked BGdns, out to the small park just past the breakwater and eventually back to the harbour for my coffee in my usual place under the old fish market roof but in behind the bays brewery beer tent! Seemed very much less busy than the last couple of days. . eventually carried on back up to BGdns. Ended up hanging around for a while pointing the camcorder at a cruise ship heading into and across the bay to Torquay.
Not too far from home, comms on the scanner revealed that the ILB had been called out. A couple of people and their dog stuck on the rocks - at Fishcombe cove!!! Oh boy, how frustrating was THAT - to have missed the opportunity of filming the rescue. They must have been just below/out of sight of where I was just sat filming the cruise ship, and must have made their 999 phone call for help whilst I was still sat there all oblivious. Damn. The good news was they were very quickly plucked from the rocks by the ILB and returned safe and well to the beach at FCove.
back home via the store in
a light rain . . . PCd . . . ate grated cheese and mayo
sandwiches and crisps . . . napped . . . TVd . . . ate bowls of

1 - Broken sleep then up around 7:30am. 15C in, 5C out. Hazey sunny . . walked BGdns and sat around for quite a while before eventually carrying on down to the harbour to sit and watch all the people dressed as pirates milling around. Eventually carried on out to the small park past the breakwater for some ball play with Bella. Back through the thickening crowds and straight home through town . . . ate two ham finger rolls with potato salad and a large bag of crisps . . napped . . oops. It would appear I forgot to take my morning fluoxetine tablet today! That's the first one I've missed since starting back on them. . . cut my hair etc. . drank a glass of red wine and immediately felt VERY tipsy! . .TVd while monitoring the radios. The local CRTs and the ILB were called out to assist the police in doing a high risk misper. search along the coast by St Mary's bay etc. Stood on the doorstep for a while ate one point when the ILB put up a para illuminent flare. Sure enough, it was very clearly visible . . . Ate the last of the cold chicken with four pieces of bread and butter. The wine really got to me this evening and I ended up back in bed before 11:30pm!
