- Woke earlier, snoozed on then up around 9:10am. 14C in, 5C out, mizzley grey . . .walked Bgdns, the harbour, along to the breakwater and eventually all the way back the way we came again . . shopped for supplies in the local store . . stopped by Mums on the return for a coffee and chats . . . napped . . . TVd(nothing!!)/drank/smoked the night off. . . ate a pack of jaffa cakes and then some reduced price oven cooked heated mushrooms. Turned out the garlic dip they came with was mostly definitely 'off', so I ended up just eating them on their own. Followed that up with crisps, cold chicken and bowls of co co pops . . . to bed around 2am.
30 - Up around 7:45am. 13C in, 1C out, clear at first and then a sudden pea souper of fog. . walked the woods for the first time in absolutely ages. Back to BGdns to sit and recover for a bit before then heading down to the harbour for my coffee and Bella's biscuit breakfast etc. Home through town . . . TVd/PCd boat pics . . drank red wine and cooked and ate cold chicken with chips and buttered mixed veg . . . DF called in for arguments from 7 till 10pm . . . ate three mince pies . . snoozed in the chair before eventually to bed.
29 - Up around 7:30am. 13C in, 2C out, sunny. . Debbie Reynolds (mother of Carrie Fisher) has died! . . walked BGdns, the harbour, out to sit on the breakwater for a bit and then back to the harbour. Ended up sitting around there for ages, determined to get a few pics of one of the boats which had just come in, landing its catch. Eventually home across FGn. . . PCd fishing photos. . .TVd feeling increasingly VERY down and 'removed' from everything/everyone. :o( . . drank wine and ate a handful of Ritz crackers, crisps and most of half a miniature cooked cold chicken. . fell asleep in the chair in front the fire and TV again! Woke and to bed somewhere around 2am.
28 - Up around 8:15am. 13C in, 6C out, sunny. . soon felt cold to the bone again. I ate nowhere near enough food again yesterday. Forced down a couple of chocolate biscuits with my morning coffee, in the hope of warming me up just a bit . . . walked BGdns, the harbour and out to sit on the breakwater and in the nearby small park for a while. Listened in on the radio as the ILB was sent over to Paignton harbour to retrieve a floating body!! . It'd turned into an amazing blue sky and sunny day, feeling really quite warm when in the sun. .drank my coffee near the old coastguard station and eventually home through town after buying a few supplies . . . ate tuna, mayo and chopped onion sandwiches with crisps . . . napped until almost 7pm . . . did the mountain of dish washing chores . . . TVd . . . drank red wine and cooked and ate two going cheap pieces of breaded cod, peas and chips followed later by three small kipling mince pies . . . to bed around 1:30am.
27 - Up around 7:45am. 14C in, -1C out, feezing cold but largely sunny. . .walked BGdns and then down to the harbour to sit and drink my coffee. Bought myself a new cheapo 3.99 capo for the guitar from the Sue Ryder charity shop. .arrived back at home feeling lifeless and utterly frozen! Just sat in front the fire for ages . . ate tuna and mayo sandwiches with crisps before returning to bed. . . napped until just before 7pm . . .guitarred breifly and TVd/smoked/drank another evening off. . PCd briefly before to bed around 2am. Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) has died.
26 - Up just before 8am. 15C in, 4C out, sunny spells . . George Michael has died! . .walked straight down through town and on out to the breakwater, to see how many people if any were swimming there this morning. There were a few throughout the time I was there, but not many. . ended up walking all the way out to the end of the breakwater and back. Whilst we did so, the lifeboat headed out across to Paignton for the large organised 'Boxing day dip'. Had a bit of a poke with the camcorder whilst they did so and caught some distant footage of one of those jet ski hoverboard people putting on quite a display over there. Amazing the height he was getting up to - several stories high! . Wow - that was a harsh cold wind at the end of the breakwater. Very pleased to soon head back away from it. . returned to the harbour and ended up sat near the fish market drinking my coffee and chatting to P who pulled up on his mobility scooter. . briefly shopped for supplies and then home through town . . . PCd . . .TVd the rest of the day away again, despite there really being nothing on worth watching. Absolutely appalling TV schedules - again! . . ate two beef (tasted a bit iffy!) baps with crisps followed by half an apple pie with cream, and finally a banana. . to bed around midnight. (Today's open-group Facebook posts links:- ALB/Hoverboard )
25 - Woke earlier, snoozed on then up around 8:15am. 15C in, 410C out, grey and threatening clouds . . .walked BGdns and eventualy on out to sit on the breakwater for a while. Back to shelter under the old fish market roof for my coffee, as things got increasingly mizzley. . . .smoked and drank wine in front the TV hardly moving the rest of the day . . .ate pizza, jaffa cakes, weetabix, Ritz crackers and a little chocolate . . to bed by midnight.
24 - Up around 8am. 15C in, 4C out, grey. . . walked BGdns. Chilly breeze. Carried on down to the harbour and out to sit on the breakwater for a while. A lot of people around. Back to near the old coastguard station intending to sit and drink my coffee, but the strong chilly breeze right there soon had me think better of it. . the town band was set up in the high street (where I usually tie Bella to a post/sit after shopping) so my intention of sitting there for a while was a no go. Stopped for a short while and listened to some of the festive music they were playing and grabbed a couple of token snips of video 'for the record', before then just heading straight home . . .PCd the snips of festive video and posted to Facebook . . . Mum successfully struggled down with food donations for chats and to see some of the recent pictures/videos etc. on the PC . . . pretty much just TVd the rest of the day off. Ate two beef baps with crisps followed by chocolate biscuits, and later Ritz crackers, a chicken and mushroom pastry slice and a couple of squares of chocolate . . . to bed around 1am.Rick Parfitt (Status Quo guitarist) has died.(Today's open-group Facebook posts links:- ForeStBand )
23 - Up around 8:15am. 15C in, 9C out, damp and mostly cloudy. . .walked BGdns and then the harbour. Uncreasingly windy with 'storm Barbara'. Sat under the old fish market roof for my coffee. Shopped for a few supplies on the way home. . . recovered from the walk and then spent a long while sewing up split seems on some of the rags I wear.

trimmed my hair and beard, etc. . . ate corned beef sandwiches and crisps . . DF called in for coffee biscuits and arguments from 7 till 10pm . . . TVd . . ate a pack of chicken coujons . . to bed around 1am.
22 - Up around 8:50am. 15C in, 8C out, sunny. . . walked BGdns and then out to sit on the breakwater for a while . back to a seat near the old coastguard station for my coffee. 'Spindrift' was up on blocks on the middle quay! . . home via FGn, the local store for a few supplies and then the pet store for some frozen food for Bella. The pet store is shut all next week so I had to make sure I had a good load in the freezer to see me through. . . recovered from the walk and then ate corned beef, mayo and grated cheese sandwiches with crisps . . . napped through until getting on for 8pm!! . . .TVd/guitarred the evening off . . ate a box of cherry bakewell tarts and later a tin of sausages in baked beans with crisps . . . to bed around 2am.
21 - Woke earlier from neighbour noise then up around 8am. 15C in, 8C out, grey . . .walked BGdns. VERY quiet around the bay, with almost nothing moving out on the water. Felt very much warmer than yesterday. Carried on down to the harbour. The fish quays were packed, with clearly most of 'the fleet' moored up for Christmas already. Grabbed a few photos before deciding to walk around the harbour and up to the high vantage point to get a few 'overview' shots. Bella seemed to be in slightly better shape than yesterday and managed the enormous flight of steps reasonably ok . . descended back down to sit near the old coastguard station for my coffee . . eventually headed home through town . . stopped at the old petrol station/new local Sainsburys building site along the way, and put in the time and effort to take some photos of the hoarding the construction company had recently put up there. They'd apparently done a competion with the local primary school, getting the little kids to do some pictures as part of an education warning of the dangers of building sites and how they aren't play areas. Although 'childish', some of those pictures were quite amazing 'I' thought, in terms of the detail they'd included. . . .PCd for hours and eventually posted all the pictures to Facebook . .Listened-in briefly on the radio as 'Spindrift' had lost drive somewhere off Berry Head and eventualy had to be towed back into the harbour by the ILB. That's ruined their Christmas then! :o( . . TVd/guitarred a little . . .ate a chicken and mushroom pastry slice with chips and peas . . . to bed around 3am. (Today's open-group Facebook posts links:- The fleet ; KidsArtwork )
20 - Up around 8:30am. 15C in, 5C out, grey and drizzley. . . walked BGdns. Bella was real cause for concern again this morning, appearing to be very achey in her back legs and walking rather slower than of late. Sat around for quite a while, sometimes sheltering from the rain in the gun emplacement, feeling very very down withall. . eventualy carried on down to the harbour and then home through town feeling very cold/down. . . sat motionless in front the fire for a couple of hours before retreating to bed . . snoozed until almost 8pm! . . TVd . . ate left over pizza slices, crisps, sausage roll, co co pops and cream . . . back to bed around 1am.
19 - Up around 8:45am. 15C in, 5C out, grey. . . walked . . PCd photos . . . TVd . .ate cold chicken peas and chips followed by biscuits and co co pops and cream . . to bed around 1am.
18 - Back up around 9am. 16C in, 3C out, fog clearing to sunny. .. walked BGdns and sat around for ages mostly taking photos of the passing gigs. A big bank of fog remained out to sea and 'lapping' against the opposite side of the bay making for some atmospheric and interesting (but largely unphotographable) scenes. . eventually carried on down to the harbour, feeling VERY cold after having sat around motionless for so long . . briefly shopped on the way home through town . . .warmed up and recovered from the walk in front the fore for quite a while. Ate a chicken and mushroom pastry slice with crisps and a little coleslaw . . . napped . . . PCd and posted all the gig photos from earlier and yesterday . . TVd . . . ate half a large pepperoni pizza . . to bed around 1:30am. (Today's open-group Facebook posts links:- Gigs )
17 - Up around 7:30am. 16C in, 9C out, damp and grey. . . walked BGdns, the harbour, out to the breakwater and then back to the harbour for my coffee before eventually home . . . re strung my Stagg guitar. For ME, always a lengthy and worrying process. Thankfully it all went ok on this occasion (without snapping any of the string anchor pins, etc) . . guitarred just a little . . .ate a chicken breast with peas and chips followed later by a half a box of jaffa cakes . . . TVd/PCd until early before to bed. A thick fog out there. (Today's open-group Facebook posts links:- Gigs )
16 - Up around 8am. 16C in, 10C out, mostly cloud. . . walked . . mowed the lawns. . vacuumed a little. . Mum and Sis1 called in briefly. . TVd . . .ate crisps, cold chicken, two buttered baps, two bananas and a square of chocolate. . . asleep in the chair and to bed whenever. (Today's open-group Facebook posts links:- MTSMovements )
15 - Up around 7:45am. 16C in, 9C out, grey . . . walked . . shopped for a few supplies . . PCd . . .TVd . . drank wine . . ate four cheeseburgers in baps followed later by a pack of jaffa cakes . . to bed around 1am. (Today's open-group Facebook posts links:- Helicopter ; PilgrimMast )
14 - Woke a little earlier, just lay there for a while then up at 8am. 16C in, 9C out, mostly sunny to start . . . walked BGdns and just sat around there for ages, taking pictures of any passing boats. The sun soon disappeared and the sky turned to cold grey again. Down to the harbour and sat near the old fish market for my coffee. Shopped for a few supplies and then home. . at the last of the stew with a couple of buttered baps . . . napped . . TVd . . ate bowls of co-co pops and biscuits . . to bed near 2am.
13 - Up around 7:45am. 16C in, 10C out, damp and mostly cloudy . . walked BGdns. Grabbed a bunch of photos of passing boats etc. Carried on down to the harbour as rain and drizzle really set in. Didn't hang around. Bought potatoes and then headed straight home carrying the heavy load . . PCd for ages . . . TVd . . . ate two ham finger rolls, crisps, banana and jaffa cakes . . . couldn't stay awake and to bed before 11pm! (Today's open-group Facebook posts links:- BrixhamWaterfall)
12 - Up around 7:10am (neighbour noise?). 16C in, 11C out, drizzley. . . walked BGdns just a little earlier than of late. Didn't hang around for 'too' long because I wanted to be back home to sit in waiting for Mum's tap delivery which was due some time today. . . did dish washing chores. Not long after I'd started, the postman delivered the Screwfix parcel. Finished the dish washing and then opened up the tap parcel and made sure it was all in order. . messed around with the tap for a while, swapping the valves around and positioning the levers in the same orientation as I had done with mine (so when both taps are off, the levers are both flat and in-line with the body of the tap rather than stuck straight out). . touched base with Mum and confirmed I'd be up to have a go at fitting it. . . loaded up a rucksack of a few tools etc, and then walked up Mum's with Bella.

. . . sat in front the TV for ages, recovering from the 'anxiety' of the tap job! . . . ate a bowl of stew, a banana and a pack of jaffa cakes . . . to bed around 12:30am.
11 - Up around 8:40am. 16C in, 5C out, sunny. . . walked BGdns and sat around taking the odd photo (gigs, lifeboat on excercise, fishing boats, etc) for ages. Amazing to think it's nearly christmas with such fine, relatively warm weather. Eventually carried on down to the harbour and then out to the breakwater. Four seal were all 'sunbathing' on the marina wavescreen. Grabbed a couple of photos, but they were so inactive, I soon gave up. Sat near the lifeboat mooring and gave Bella her breakfast before heading back to sit near the old coastguard station for my luke-warm coffee. I was absolutely not in the mood to be having to make meaningless conversations with anyone - and I swear every single person who walked by wanted to comment on Bella sprawled across the seat next to me! . . straight home through town . . . PCd photos for Facebook posts for hours . . .TVd . . drank wine. Cooked up a pressure cooker full of beef mice and mixed veg stew and eventually ate a large bowlful with a couple of pieces of bread and butter cut up into little squares (the only way I can manage to eat even bread now!!). Ate a bunch of chocolate biscuits while fighting the irresistable desire to fall asleep in the chair . . to bed around 11pm! (Today's open-group Facebook posts links:- ViewsOfTheDay ; Gigs )
10 - Up around 8:20am. 16C in, 11C out, rain. . . walked BGdns and eventually on down to the harbour. Straight home through town . . . PCd/aimlessly sat around feeling down . . . drank wine . . .cooked up two chicken kievs from the freezer with chips and peas. Turned out the kievs were 'off''. Something of an unpleasant odor/taste about them. Bella got to eat the kievs, and I just made do with the peas and chips and a little bit of the remaining coleslaw, followed later by chocolate biscuits and a square of chocolate. . . to bed around 12:30am. (Today's open-group Facebook posts links:- Gigs )
9 - Up around 8am. 16C in, 11C out, damp and mostly grey. Astronaut John Glenn has died. . walked and immediately popped up Mum's to have a look at her leaking kitchen sink tap. Not to 'do' anything - just to look to see how easy it would be to work on it. . . .walked Bgdns and on down to the harbour to aimlessly sit around and drink my coffee before shopping for a few supplies and then home through town . . . PCd and eventually just went straight ahead and ordered a new kitchen sink tap for Mum, the same as what I have, from Screwfix Direct. Ended up ordering a couple of full bore shut-off valves AND a whole new set of screwdrivers, just to push the bill up over 50, enough to qualify for free delivery. .

. . TVd . . ate a pack of jaffa cakes, a couple of bags of crisps and then a chicken pizza with extra cheese . . to bed around 12:40am.
8 - Up at 9am! 16C in, 11C out, dark grey and drizzle. . . walked BGdns feeling down and exhausted. Sheltered from the light drizzle in the gun emplacement. Sat on the seats under the roof for my coffee, watching the squirrel, birds, etc nearby for ages. Eventually straight home . the postman had left my recent order for Bella's expensive tablets rubber-banded to the door handle. . . PCd pics and video . .did laundry chores . . .TVd . . .ate half a tin of chopped ham and pork with a tin of sausages in baked beans, grated cheese and crisps followed later by co-co pops and cream and biscuits . . to bed around 1am. (Today's open-group Facebook posts links:- BGdnsWildlife ; LandingSeagulls )
7 - Woken around 7:40am by neighbour noise! 16C in, 10C out, broken cloud. . .walked BGdns and then on down towards the harbour. Stopped for a couple of minutes along the way to point the camcorder at a robin on the rocks, which unusualy showed little sign of flying away despite the proximity of Bella and I. . carried on out to teh breakwater and sat there for a while to give Bella her breakfast etc. . back to sit near the old coastguard station for my coffee. . headed towards home across FGn and stopped at the pet store for Bella food/treat supplies. . .PCd. At LAST! I was starting to worry that even THAT was going to go wrong in some way. I finally received my refund for the duff hard-drive I returned a week ago. What a complete an utter waste of time and hassle all THAT was! . . edited and uploaded the Robin video to Facebook and then descended into my usual 'can't muster the energy/interest to do anything', down mode!. . eventually retreated to bed and just lay there, sleeping or not, until gone 6pm. . . PCd a bit of this - AND simply deleted the 'Paypal Donate' button from the bottom of this page. It transpires it no longer works as it used to, and I just can't be bothered to try and sort it out. :o( . . TVd . . ate the remaining small bit of cold chicken, crisps, coleslaw, banana and biscuits. Not enough. . . to bed just before 1am. (Today's open-group Facebook posts links:- Robin )
6 - Up around 9:20am!! 16C in, 11C out, grey. . .very slow getting going and then walked across town to the vets to pick up supplies of the cheaper two of Bella's three tablets. Took the opportunity of weighing her while we were there, and confirmed that she IS now the heaviest I've ever had her. Up around 35kg. No bad thing. . carried on down to the harbour and on out to sit on the breakwater for a while, watching a seal out on the wavescreen again. . eventually headed all the way back up to BGdns to sit and drink my coffee. A VERY mild and quiet day. . grabbed a few photos of incoming boats before ending up walking back down the harbour to get a few shots of the catch being landed. . bought a chicken and a couple of supplies on the way home through town . . . PCd for hours posting all the photos to Facebook etc. . . TVd . . ate most of a cold chicken on its own followed by half an apple pie and cream . . .to bed before 1am. (Today's open-group Facebook posts links:- Seal ; M&BSculpture )
5 - Up around 8:30am. 14C in, 9C out, mostly grey. . woke at the PC. Checked on Bellas medication supplies and found I still had a repeat of the expensive Vetmedin ones possible on the last prescription I got. Wow - good job I checked on that right now - it date expires tomorrow! Went ahead online and immediately ordered that final 100. . rang the vet and requested further supplies of the other two tablets, just to make all the quantities the same. . .walked BGdns, the harbour for my coffee, and home through town. . . aimlessly PCd/sat around feeling down. . . TVd . . .ate a tin of sausages in baked beans with half a large tin of chopped ham and pork, covered in melted grated cheese, followed by a couple of apple puffs . . . to bed around 1am. MilkTray Advert on Youtube.
4 - Woken up around 10:15am by a chainsaw being used nearby. 14C in, 6C out, windy grey. . .walked Bgdns and eventually on out to sit part way along the breakwater for quite a while watching a couple of seal basking on the wavescreen again . . . back to the harbour and sat under the old fish market roof out of the wind for my coffee . . shopped for a few supplies in town AND bought a 4 box of Cadburys milk tray chocolates! I wanted those chocolates for no other reason than as a 'prop' for a silly little video I've been wanting to make ever since recording footage of that fishing boat painted like their logo in purple with a white stripe. . walked back to the harbour and located some appropriately coloured fishing net on the quayside and messed around for a while taking photos of the Milk Tray box (and a fishermans glove I'd pulled out of the harbour as an extra prop) !!! lol lol . . straight home through town . . . PCd for HOURS messing around with the silly video and a soundtrack of one of the old Milk Tray adverts harvested from Youtube. An UTTERLY absurd waste of time, and as it turned out extremely difficult given the 'not that rough' footage I had, and the limitations of the short soundtrack, but I got there in the end I think - and uploaded it to Facebook. It amused me. :o) (The 'prop' will probably be given to Mum as a token Xmas present) . . . TVd nothing . . ate a reduced price meat pizza followed by a couple of apple puff pastries . . almost asleep in the chair and to bed before midnight. (Today's open-group Facebook posts links:- MilkTrayAdvert )
3 - Up around 8:30am. 14C in, 7C out, drizzley grey. . . walked BGdns. Stiff easterly wind again, churning up the waters of the bay and seeing the vast majority of fishing boats all stacked up in the harbour again. Filmed one small boat that was out off the breakwater for a bit before it steamed in. . carried on down towards the harbour, keeping pace almost all the way with 'the' two frollicking seal. . out to the small park past the breakwater to sit around for quite a while just in case any boats went out. None did. . . starting to head back towards the harbour, I spotted the same two boisterous seal playing around near the lifeboat pontoon at the edge of the big WWII breakwater slipway. Ended up filming them for quite a while. When they 'present' like that in one place for a lengthy period of time, it's really hard to resist. . sat under the old fish market roof for my coffee, mostly sheltered from the cold gusting wind. . shopped for a few supplies on the way home through town . . . PCd for hours editing footage and up loading videos . . . TVd. . . ate just a pasty with a couple of bags of crisps followed by a whole pack of kipling slices . . aimlessly sat around/PCd/TVd the whole night through. Even ended up sat watching a few of my own 'boat in rough seas' videos on Youtube!!! lol I've done so many now, I don't even remember some of them. Watching them as if for the first time like that, I think it MUST be said that some of them really are spectacular. . . eventually to bed, closer to 5am than 4am!!! (Today's open-group Facebook posts links:- SlipwaySealwatch ; Man&BoyRisingSun )
2 - Woke around 6am. Evenetually managed to get back to sleep until around 8:15am. 13C in, 0C out, plenty of cloud and a real hard covering of frost on everything . .Andrew Sachs (Manuel in Fawlty Towers) has died. . . walked BGdns after the frost had mostly cleared already. A chilly breeze coming off the sea again . . coffee near the old coastguard station but didn't hang around for too long . . home through town after buying a few supplies . . PCd just a bit . . ate the last of the stew. . napped until 6:45pm . . . DF called in for arguments until around 10pm . . guitarred/TVd . . . drank wine and ate a meat feast 12" (going cheap/ood) pizza . . to bed around 2am.
1 - Up around 7:45am. 13C in, -1C out, misty clear skies with a good frost on everything . . . walked BGdns. Somehow mustered the energy to walk down around the harbour and then all the way out to the quarry area at Berry Head. Haven't been there for ages, and a post on facebook about smoke coming from that direction the day before had peaked my interest. When we finally got all the way down there, there were lots of people milling around and some hire vans and equipment in a couple of places. Two guys were stood on the path between the groups chatting, so I wandered over and politely asked if they could tell me what was going on. Filming for a Bollywood production I was told!! I DID wander over to a quiet area away from them all for a bit and briefly sat to grab a couple of token photos as best I could. I didn't hang around because I didn't want to be in the way, and if the truth be told, I think I was almost the only white face in the area and it just felt a bit 'uncomfortable' intruding. It was also very chilly down there - so good luck to them! . . wandered around exploring just a little bit as we started to head back. Sadly the main quarry WAS still fenced and gated off, so there was no way to have a look down in it. . . eventually did the long climb back up the track and then returned to sit around on the breakwater for a while, and to give Bella her breakfast . . sat near the old coastguard station for my coffee.

Ended up in a conversation with a passing woman - the mother of the guy who died returning to his yacht from the yacht club!!!!! SUCH sadness and suffering she had endured! She'd ALSO lost her husband to cancer within days of her son drowning!! She was down with a friend to deal with his personal effects, car, etc - but AND to ask around and try to get a fuller picture of what may have occurred. :o( Impossible to say the right thing under such doubly tragic circumstances.

got all transfixed by a pigeon sat atop one of the harbour Christmas lights. Changing colour like a lava lamp! lol I just HAD to stop and film for a bit.

straight home through town. . . PCd the few pictures and snips of pigeon video . . dog walker N popped in for a brief coffee and chat. I think I could tolerate having his company again some time.

. . . TVd the evening away feeling rather tired. I think both Bella and I were suffering from the longer walk earlier. We BOTH seem to be past doing 'long' walks these days! . . . ate a couple of bowls of stew with some crisps followed by a square of chocolate and then later a couple of bowls of co co pops . . .to bed WELL before midnight. (Today's open-group Facebook posts links:- LavaLampPigeon ; Bollywood )
